Bio deocontamination Ltd carried out 700m³ production decontamination to the clean room.

Requirement

Engineering maintenance work was to be carried out at one of their pharmaceutical production facilities. The room to be treated was one of a number of rooms in the production process and had to be isolated for the decontamination. The company had historically used formaldehyde, but were moving away from it because of the issues associated with it;

The vapor is unstable
Research shows that it could be a carcinogen
Its odour is strong and overpowering
It is not bio degradable and residues need to be removed

Solution

Biodecontamination Ltd arrived on site at 09.00 and after completing the appropriate paperwork (work permits etc.) set up the equipment and commenced the decontamination at 11.00 having the room ready for production by 13.15. The whole process only took just over 2 hours to complete and due to the unique way the decontamination process is monitored the company had confidence to start production on the same day without awaiting the BI results, which when cultured several days later were negative.
